Our Initiatives

Together with local organizations in Madagascar, CPALI advances three interconnected initiatives with one goal: conservation through poverty alleviation.

CPALI's initiatives engage communities bordering the largest remaining intact rainforest on the island of Madagascar. An estimated 1% of the world’s biodiversity is represented within this region.

We work through local partners to engage farmer and artisan leaders to cultivate native resources and secure a market for them. This improves the economic lives of families living on the margins of protected areas while regenerating forests.

Nature-Based Textiles

Supporting a thriving circle of local artisans–primarily women with limited economic opportunities–to grow their skill sets and access fair markets for wild silk and raffia sustainable textiles.

Regenerative Agroforestry

Helping local farmers plant native trees in their rainforest-bordering agroforestry systems to generate income for families from wild silk and raffia harvests, while producing food and other crops. This income helps keep kids in school while restoring critical areas for at-risk biodiversity.

Nature-Positive Innovations

Investing in local ideas with transformative impact to reduce our footprint on nature.

Piloting, iterating, scaling.
